  • Dr. Courtney Wells (they/them) received their BS and MA at John Carroll University and their PhD in Psychology at Texas Woman’s University. They completed their predoctoral internship at the Dallas Veterans Affairs and their postdoctoral fellowship at the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs, specializing in trauma and chronic pain. Courtney was the creator and director of Chicago's largest Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Trauma Program. Today, Courtney finds professional joy in teaching queer theory and contextually-based behavioral therapies (CBT, DBT, & ACT) at the University of Chicago and DePaul University - and providing individual, couples, and group trauma therapy at Pivot.

    Courtney specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for individuals and couples.

    Courtney won the 2022 ABCT Champion of Evidence-Based Psychological Interventions Award for their TEDx Talk on dismantling the gender binary. This award recognizes outstanding individuals who have shown exceptional dedication, influence, and social impact through the promotion of evidence-based psychological interventions. Courtney has continued this mission through the publication and promotion of their award-winning A Kids Book About Pronouns, which utilizes ACT principles to support kids and families as they explore identity and pronouns. All author proceeds from the book go to LGBTQ+ organizations.

    Courtney is also on the Associate Board of Resilience (formerly Rape Victim Advocates), supporting the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors.

    If you know anything about Courtney, it’s that they plan their entire day around food! In fact, they are cooking their way through Ina Garten’s cookbook - yum! Let’s not forget Courtney’s favorite activity, spending time with their family.

 
  • Alix Golub (she/her) received her MSW from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice (SP2). Over the years, Alix has provided evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization settings. She specializes in the overlap of OCD and trauma and offers LGBTQIA+ affirming trauma care. Alix’s therapeutic approach includes therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

    In her free time, Alix is an overbearing cat mom and lover of hiking and musical theatre.
